Howies Helps Launch the 2025–26 Season in Grand Rapids
September 8, 2025
The 2025–26 season opened with a bang as the Howies Hometown Cup lit up western Michigan to kick off another year of elite competition. From the first puck drop to the final horn, the rinks were buzzing with energy—thanks not only to the 124 teams battling for championships but also the Howies Hockey crew, who brought the hype all weekend long with their mascot, on-site swag, and even hosting teams at their headquarters.
Over three action-packed days, 275 games were played across nine divisions, with players pouring everything into each shift. The result? An incredible 1,844 goals scored, averaging 6.71 goals per game. It was a nail-biting finale, with six of nine championships decided by a single goal and the 18U final needing overtime to crown a winner.
Teams traveled in from as far as Colorado, making the Hometown Cup a true regional showdown. The parity and competitiveness on display set the tone for what promises to be an unforgettable season of 200×85 hockey.
