Elevated competition takes 200×85’s westernmost event to new heights.

Ninety-two teams headed to the Rocky Mountains to join 200×85 for the 2023 CCM Denver this weekend. We want to thank all the attending players, coaches, and families for joining us this past weekend. Over 200 games were played in three days, resulting in eight champions.

2023 CCM Denver Results

2013 Division

Perfect through pool play and the quarterfinals, the Littleton Hawks and the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights were going back and forth all game in their semifinal match. There was no resolution through regulation, but in extra play, the Jr Golden Knights prevailed 7-6. Just as in their match with Littleton, they knew they would have to score plenty to keep up with their final foe, the Jr SoDak Bardown Beauties. The Bardown Beauties were coming off an 8-6 semifinal win over the Arizona Bobcats and had yet to score less than six goals in a game. The Bardown Beauties offense had a nose for the net again in the finals, tallying nine goals in their championship victory. Following their 9-4 victory, Deacon Smith was named the 2013 Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

2012 Division

Opening the weekend with a loss to the Ogden Jr. Mustangs, the Tri-Valley Bulls righted the ship with two pool play wins, a quarterfinal win over the Northwest Chargers, and a semifinal win over the Arizona Bobcats. They would either be rematching the Ogden Jr. Mustangs or facing off with the Jr. Coyotes in the final. In a tight match, the Jr. Coyotes pulled it out by a final score of 5-3, advancing to the final with a record of 4-0-1. Unfortunately for the Jr. Coyotes, the Bulls were on a run and claimed the championship banner in a 6-2 victory. Victor Platanov, Tri-Valley, was named the 2012 Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

2011 Division

The 2011 Division was the largest of the event, with twenty teams. The margins were so narrow that the Nashville Warriors (3-0-1) and the Arapahoe Warriors (3-1-0) were sent to the consolation round due to tiebreakers. Throughout their four pool play games the only remaining team without a loss or tie was the West Dundee Leafs. The Leafs perfect weekend concluded in the semifinals versus the Jr. Sun Devils Elite, who advanced to face Omaha HC Black in the championship. The championship was symbolic of the division as it came down to the slightest of margins as the game went to overtime. With the championship banner on the line, the Jr. Sun Devils Elite pulled it out 4-3. Clinton Young, Jr. Sun Devils Elite, was named the 2011 Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

2010 Division

The Colorado Thunderbirds defeated Carshield 4-2 in the semifinals to punch their ticket for the championship match and bring their record to 4-0-1. Their opposition in the finals was Okanagan Hockey. Okanagan faced some challenges in pool play with a loss to the Tri-Valley Bulls and a tie versus Carshield, but had since turned it on with a 4-1 quarterfinal victory over the Jr. Sun Devils Elite and a 5-2 semifinal victory over the Colorado Rampage. Okanagan’s run was brought to a halt by the Thunderbirds. The Thunderbird’s 4-1 championship victory was capped off with Kellen O’Leary being named the 2010 Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

2009 Supertacks Division

The Colorado Rampage’s two goals versus Okanagan Hockey in the semifinals was more than anyone had scored versus them all weekend, but it wasn’t enough. Okanagan was rolling, but their championship opposition had been doing the same. Three of the Colorado Thunderbird’s four victories were shutouts. These two teams made a statement all weekend that this was their banner to lose. The championship was a battle that ended with the Thunderbirds on top. The Thunderbird’s 5-2 championship victory was capped off with Jackson Green being named the 2009 Supertacks Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

2009 Jetspeed Division

The Dallas Penguins and the Lafayette Locomotive started their weekend with a 2-2 tie. Each team continued to accumulate four wins throughout the weekend only for the two to meet again in the championship. This time there would be no draw. The Locomotive was too much for the Penguins the second time around. The Locomotive’s 5-1 championship victory was capped off with Beck Meneghini being named the 2009 Jetspeed Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

16U Ribcor Division

Though they had two 2-1 losses in pool play, the California Wave was able to qualify for the quarterfinals. Despite being the underdog, the Wave proceeded to upset the St. Louis Sting and then upset the West Dundee Leafs in the semifinal. As a two-loss team, it was a Cinderella story in the making for the Wave. They would yet again be considered an underdog versus the undefeated Littleton Hawks. The hometown Hawks were given their tightest game of the weekend but still earned their banner in a 4-1 victory. Quinn Holmes, Littleton, was named the 16U Ribcor Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

16U Jetspeed Division

A 2-0 semifinal victory over the Texas Tigers extended the Metro Jr. Jets shutout streak to five games. Their opposition in the championship, the Jr. Sun Devils Elite were coming off their second consecutive shutout. The Jr. Jets and the Jr. Sun Devils Elite had met previously in pool play where the Jr. Jets prevailed 2-0. With the slate wiped clean for the championship, the Jr. Sun Devils Elite did something that no other team had yet to do, score on the Jr. Jets. However, this would not be enough as the Jr. Jets were victorious by a final score of 3-1. Their undefeated weekend was capped off with Connor Holmes being named the 16U Jetspeed Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.
