Weekend Recap: 2023 CCM Nashville Tier II

Tier II takes to the Music City for 200×85’s Inaugural CCM Nashville Tier II

The CCM Nashville has been a staple of the 200×85 season for years. This was the first season 200×85 expanded the CCM Nashville to two weekends to add a Tier II division. Twenty teams from the 2011 to 2009 birth years joined us in Nashville for the inaugural CCM Nashville Tier II weekend. We want to thank all the attending players, coaches, and families for making this a memorable weekend. Check out the division breakdowns and see who came out on top.

2009 Division

Champion: Nest Hockey Academy

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Ezra Miller, #45

A 4-3 loss in the final game of pool play was not ideal, but Nest Hockey Academy was able to lock in the three-seed going into playoffs. Nest Hockey Academy bounced back in the semi-final with a 5-2 win over the St. Louis Eagles. In the other semi-final match, the top-seeded Romeoville Huskies defeated the Utah Jr Mustangs Blue. Aside from a draw in pool play, the Huskies were undefeated and focused on bringing a banner back to Illinois. Throughout the weekend, the Huskies had yet to allow more than two goals against in any game, but they could not hold off their opposition in the final. Nest Hockey Academy netted four goals to the Huskies’ one on their path to victory.

2010 Division

Champion: St. Louis Eagles

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Cam Wooderson, #62

Both semi-final games featured rematches. The St. Louis Eagles (1st Seed) would face the California Heat (4th Seed), and Knoxville Jr. Ice Bears (2nd Seed) would battle the Southeastern New England Devils (3rd Seed). The Eagles shut out the Heat in their opening game of the weekend, but the Heat would not be kept off the scoreboard in the semi-final. The match ended in a tie. The shootout commenced, and the Eagles ended on top for the second time. The Jr. Ice Bears defeated the Devils 6-2 on the first day of the weekend, however, the tides turned in the semi-final with the Devils advancing to the championship with a 4-1 win. With the banner on the line, the undefeated St. Louis Eagles brought their best for the final. The Eagles earned their championship with a 4-0 victory.

2011 Division

Champion: Columbus Capitals White

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Logan Gernert, #82

Sunday arrived with the Chicago Hawks (2-0-1) as the only remaining team without a loss. They faced their semi-final opponent previously on Saturday, the Columbus Capitals White. Their first match ended in a 2-2 draw, but on Sunday the Capitals shut out the Hawks to advance to the final to face the NC Golden Bears. The Golden Bears were coming off a big 6-2 semi-final win and were ready to roll through the championship. The Capitals had other plans, defeating the Golden Bears 4-1 to claim their championship title, hats, and banner.

We are approaching Thanksgiving and nearing the midway point of the 2023-24 season. 200×85 has four more events remaining to close out 2023 including the CCM Nations Cup, CCM Girls Windy City Elite, CCM Florida Winter Cup, and three CCM Shootout Weekends. There are still open spaces in select divisions for the CCM Florida Winter Cup, which takes place December 15th – 17th in the Tampa Bay Area. As for the rest of our events, look ahead to 2024 and our spring/summer tournaments.
