What is the structure of the tournament and how will teams be selected? How will it be determined what division we play in?
- Our Divisions are 21+, 30+,40+,50+,60+,70+,80+& Women.
- Whoever fills the Division gets it.
- The tournament staff will utilize team information and past results, to determine the best level of play and competitive division for all teams.
- If they need any further information, it will be requested.
How many teams will participate in each playing division? What is the division format?
The number of teams in each division depends on multiple factors, including overall tournament size, rinks, registrations, competitive level, and other items.
Most playing divisions will include between 8 and 24 teams.
We have Divisions of 5, 4 & 3 Teams.
- Division of 5 plays a 4 game round robin with the team with the most points being declared champion.
- Division of 4 plays 3 game round robin with the top two teams playing in a championship game.
- Division of 3 plays a 2 game round robin. Top team advances to the championship game. 2nd & 3rd place teams play a semi final game. Winner advances to play in the championship game.
Division formats and playoff structures will be released no later than 3 weeks prior to the event.
When will the schedule be released?
All event schedules will be released no later than 2 weeks prior to the event start date.
What is the schedule format? What is the earliest our team may play? When will the championship be completed?
Unless otherwise noted and communicated, all teams will play one or two games on Friday, one or two games on Saturday.
If you make it you will play in the Championship game on Sunday.
If you're in a division of 5, you could be playing your last game on Sunday.
We advise everyone to be prepared to play your first game Friday at noon unless we start Thursday like we do in South Lake Tahoe. Tournament ends on Sunday by 1pm.
Depending on the number of teams and arena’s available, games can start as late as 10 pm & as early as 8am on Saturday and Sunday.
What rules does the tournament abide by? What are the differences between USAH and Canada?
The adult division is not sanctioned by USA Hockey. We go by our own rules.
We don't know how many family members are traveling yet, should I wait to register?
No, you should register as soon as you decide to attend. You can always add more family members later or update which adult will be traveling with the player.
What are the period lengths?
ALL Ages - 3 x 12 min stop time periods*
*with ice cut after every game.
Will games start early?
All teams must be prepared to start as early as 15 minutes prior to their game time. If the ice and officials are ready, the game will begin. Teams ill-prepared to start on time will receive a bench minor penalty to start the game.
Do we need to have 2 sets of jerseys?
YES. Home team wears light, and the visiting team wears dark.
Do you provide warm up pucks?
NO, your team must provide their own warm up pucks unless the arena can provide.
Do we need to bring roster scoresheets?
We will have scoresheets for the timekeepers.
