200×85 Welcomes First South Korean Team at Chi-Town Shuffle

The 2023 Chi-Town Shuffle is underway

200×85’s Chi-Town Shuffle event is notorious for hosting the top spring select teams to compete in an elite AAA and AA/AAA division tournament in Chicago, Illinois. This year is no different, as the youth hockey brand celebrates the event’s 20th anniversary with a bash like no other. Throughout the history of the Chi-Town Shuffle, the event has welcomed many international teams; South Korea will be represented for the first time at this year’s Chi-Town Shuffle.

The presence of international teams offers different playing styles that boost the competition level and foster individual development on the ice. Justin Lewandowski, 200×85 Vice President of Hockey Operations, stated, “We are always excited to welcome international competition to our USA events. To attract teams from around the world is a testament to the growth of the sport, and also the competitive 200×85 experience! This year, to be able to host teams from the Czech Republic, Sweden, and South Korea is a treat for the local teams and families.”

The Killer Whales, from Seoul, South Korea, will compete in the 2012 division. We asked Brad Posey, Coach/Business Manager, why they traveled over 6,000 miles to attend the Chi-Town Shuffle. Brad replied, “It’s a great representation of American hockey.” The squad has been in the States all week on the ice daily, training off the ice, and competing in local friendlies. But it’s not all business – the Killer Whales plan to catch a Cubs game and consume as much Chicago deep-dish pizza as possible. To stay up-to-date on the team’s trip, you can follow them on Instagram and YouTube.

The Killer Whales and the other attending teams were all invited to help us kick off the event last night at Seven Bridges Ice Arena for Opening Night. The ceremonies included CCM equipment testing, YouTubers Olly and Jacob from “On The Bench”, and sponsor activations from Bladetech Hockey, Buttendz, Goalie Parts, Helios, Howie’s Hockey Tape, LiveBarn, Sparx, SportLogiq, and more. The remaining three days are filled with competition between the most talented and skilled youth hockey players in the world.

The CCM Chi-Town Shuffle event’s online schedule and results will be updated regularly on the Game On Mobile app and website. Fans can also stream the action or watch games on-demand on LiveBarn. To receive event stories and recaps, sign up here.
