Building to The Brick
The CCM Chicago Brick Team Evaluations Kick Off November 5th
Held within the iconic West Edmonton Mall, The Brick Invitational Hockey Tournament has earned its reputation as the most prestigious competition for the 10 & under age level. While the primary focus is on the ice, it’s not just about the game – it’s also about the experiences that make it a memorable event for players and their families.
Â
One of the defining features of the Brick Tournament is its unique setting and its history. The games have taken place on an ice rink inside the West Edmonton Mall since 1990, creating a truly unforgettable experience for both players and spectators. The Brick has been a staple for elite youth players every summer and has elite alumni like Connor Bedard, Jonathan Toews, Seth Jones, Auston Matthews, Jack Hughes, Quinn Hughes, Brady Tkachuk, Steven Stamkos, Cole Caufield, Mark Stone, Trevor Zegras, and many more.
Â
The tournament isn’t just about intense competition; it’s also about creating lasting memories. Off-ice activities like the famous Brick Tournament Beach Party at the Water Park and the skills competition make the event a fun-filled hockey experience for the entire family. It’s a unique opportunity for young players to not only test their abilities on the ice but also bond with fellow competitors and enjoy the diverse attractions that the West Edmonton Mall has to offer.

CCM Chicago Brick Teams
The road to the Brick Tournament is a challenging one, and it begins with evaluations. The CCM Chicago Brick program comprises two key components: the 2014 CCM Chicago Brick Team and the 2015 CCM Chicago Brick Futures Team. The journey starts with evaluations on Sunday, November 5th, which serves as the first opportunity for players to be assessed for these teams.
Â
The CCM Chicago Brick territory encompasses all players from Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin. In addition to these players, there’s the possibility of three potential imports from outside these states. All eligible players are encouraged to complete the evaluation application, although players must be accepted to participate in the program.
Â
Following the evaluation on November 5th, players who show the necessary skills and potential may be invited to the final tryout camp scheduled for March 2024. This camp is a critical step in the selection process. It’s a time for young athletes to showcase their talent, determination, and commitment to the sport.
Â
For the successful players, making it onto the 2014 CCM Chicago Brick Team is a significant achievement. This team will represent Chicago and the surrounding region at the prestigious Brick Invitational Hockey Tournament in Edmonton, Alberta, during the summer of 2024. It’s an opportunity for these young players to compete on a national stage and test their abilities against other top talents from North America.
