Two Top Tournaments Join Forces To Create An Ultimate Experience

Two historic youth hockey tournaments are combining to create the nation’s newest premiere event. The East Coast-based CCM Boston Invite and Ocean State Classic, two of the oldest and longest-running youth hockey tournaments in the country, will bring together their teams, resources and facilities to host the CCM Boston Ocean State starting next February 19-21, 2022 in the City of Champions.

“This really is a moment when history meets legacy,” said Kevin Mann, President/CEO of 200×85. “The history of the Ocean State Classic speaks for itself. We can’t wait to bring that history to one of America’s most legendary hockey towns.”

The CCM Boston Ocean State Tournament builds on the successful history of the Ocean State Classic, which began in 1972 and has featured some of the biggest names in hockey history. In fact, NHL Hall of Famers like Steve Yzerman (1978), Doug Weight (1985), Jeremy Roenick (1985) and Stanley Cup winner Ray Shero (1977)  made names for themselves at the Ocean State Classic.Similarly, the CCM Boston Invite boasts a history of local hockey heroes, having attracted some of New England’s most promising young players to compete in one of America’s most demanding cities: Boston, Massachusetts. Locals residents and CCM Boston Invite alumni take a certain pride in their place within Beantown’s hockey community, whenever it was.

“Hockey in Massachusetts is just different,” said Ben Horner, a local play-by-play hockey announcer in Boston. “Lots of states like to call themselves the ‘State of Hockey’ but nowhere else can boast the kinds of tournaments that you’ll find in Massachusetts. Hockey is a part of this state’s DNA.”

The CCM Boston Ocean State will now build its own legacy, starting in 2022. No other tournament can offer this level of competition, quality of facilities, and most importantly, a history of successful hockey experiences.
