Over the weekend the CCM Michigan Classic kicked off 200×85’s 20th Anniversary season. We want to thank all the attending players, coaches, and families for joining us this past weekend. The event fielded nine divisions hosting 124 teams who battled throughout 275 games. The championship matches were tense with five of the nine coming down to one goal.

2023 CCM Michigan Classic Results

2014 Division

Twelve teams narrowed to the final four for the semi-finals on Sunday. In the semi-finals, the Kensington Valley Renegades remained undefeated by handing the St. Louis Eagles their first loss of the weekend and Honeybaked Gold knocked off the Detroit Bulldogs. Not only were both teams undefeated, but each had proven to be an offensive powerhouse throughout the weekend averaging seven goals per game. Honeybaked kept on their goal-scoring pace and defeated the Renegades 7-1 to win the championship. Stone Jackson, Honeybaked Gold, was named the 2014 Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

2013 Division

Opening the weekend with a draw versus Wilmette, the SCS Saints earned their spot in the finals with four consecutive wins including a tight 4-3 win in the semi-finals versus the Lake County Vipers. Their opposition in the final was the 5-0 Orland Park Vikings. It was tight down to the wire but one goal separated the teams in the end, with the Vikings prevailing by the final score of 3-2. Ragnar Koniukhov, Orland Park, was named the 2013 Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

2012 Division

There was no shortage of close games in the 2012 division. The Affton Prospects started the weekend with a 5-4 loss to Wilmette only to follow it up with a 4-3 and 7-6 win in pool play. Their next challenge was a rematch versus Wilmette where they avenged their only loss with a 2-1 victory in overtime. After defeating the undefeated Chicago Hawks by one goal in the semi-finals, they were set to face the undefeated Lake County Vipers. To no surprise this game also came down to one goal and resulted in Affton on top. The Prospects defeated the Vipers 3-2 to claim the championship banner. Crosby Jezik, Affton, was named the 2012 Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

2011 Division

Consisting of 18 teams, the 2011 division was tied for the largest division. Through three games of pool play and the quarter finals in the books, 14 teams were eliminated. The semi-finals saw both the Chicago Blues and Chicago Jets fall in close matches leaving the Arapahoe Warriors and the St. Louis Knights as the only two standing. In the process of their five wins to get to the final both teams had proven to shut teams down having compiled 9 of their 10 combined wins holding their opposition to 1 goal or less. In the final the defense and goaltending came to play. The Warriors edged out the Knights 2-1 in the end to claim their banner. Brynn Host, Arapahoe, was named the 2011 Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

2010 Division

The Plymouth Flyers Black and the Peoria Jr Mustang were set to face off in the final. Two days prior these teams met in pool play with Plymouth making a statement in a 7-2 victory. Peoria bounced back following that loss scoring 24 goals across three victories. Peoria now had a chance to avenge their early weekend loss against the still undefeated Plymouth. Peoria proved it would not be easy, yet Plymouth still ended up on top by the final score of 2-1. Lucas Zielinski, Plymouth, was named the 2010 Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

2009 Division

It took overtime for the Arapahoe Warriors to defeat the Plymouth Flyers in the semi-finals. At 4-0-1, the Warriors would hit the ice Sunday versus a team with a matching record, the Kensington Valley Raiders. Kensington Valley came in hot off a shutout semi-final victory but the Warriors were prepared. The final score was 5-3 with the championship banner going to the Arapahoe Warriors. Nico Moar, Arapahoe, was named the 2009 Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

15U/16U Division

The SCS Saints were the only undefeated team coming out of pool play with all other advancing teams having at least a tie on their record. The Saints quest for the banner was brought to a halt in the semi-finals by the Chicago Bulldogs. Their opposition in the final was a familiar one, the Chicago Blues. The Blues lost in pool play 5-3 to the Bulldogs but were looking for revenge coming off their 5-4 overtime win in the semi-finals. The two Chicago teams dueled it out and needed extra time. The overtime concluded with the Bulldogs victorious by the final score of 2-1. Hunter Pope, Chicago Bulldogs, was named the 15U/16U Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

16U Division

A 3-2 victory over the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies punched the ticket for the St. Louis Sting to head to the championship. In the other semi-final match the undefeated Vipers faced the Chicago Blues. The Blues upset the Vipers 2-1 in overtime and were off to clash with the Sting in the championship. The Sting knocked off the Blues to not only win their sixth game of the weekend but also the championship banner. Lucas Kempf, Sting, was named the 16U Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

18U Division

Both the Ashburn Xtreme and the Chicago Jets entered their Sunday afternoon championship game with matching 5-0-0 perfect records. One of these streaks would have to come to an end and the Chicago Jets were not planning on it being them. The Jets finished business in the final defeating the Xtreme 3-1 and becoming an undisputed champion. Logan Stumpf, Jets, was named the 18U Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.
