Champion: Jr Spartans

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Peyton Hansen, #5

Southeast Hockey Elite opened the weekend with a 2-1 loss to the Jr. Spartans. However, by Sunday, they had eliminated the Central Drillers in the semi-final with a final score of 4-1. In the other semi-final, two undefeated teams, the Jr. Admirals and the Jr. Spartans, faced off. The Jr. Spartans swiftly defeated the Jr. Admirals 7-1, setting up a rematch with Southeast Hockey Elite for the title. The championship match was as tightly contested as their first encounter, ending with a single-goal difference. The Jr. Spartans emerged victorious once again, this time with a score of 3-2, and celebrated with their championship banner and hats.

Girls 12U Jetspeed Division

Champion: Wade 2013

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Victoria Ciuc, #73

The SDP U12 Elite Girls swept through pool play with a perfect 3-0-0 record, conceding only one goal in the process. They continued their strong performance with a 7-1 victory over the CHHC Prospects Girls in the semi-finals, setting up a rematch with Wade 2013. Although SDP had previously defeated Wade 5-1 in their pool play match, this time the title was at stake. Wade managed to take a 2-1 lead and held on until the final buzzer, securing their vengeance and earning their championship banner.

Girls 14U Divisions

Girls 14U Supertacks Division

Champion: 29ers

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Cassidy Cha, #26

The 29ers’ path to the championship was a roller coaster. They went 1-1-1 through pool play, only to find themselves tied 0-0 at the conclusion of regulation with the Wade Warriors Black 2010. The 29ers advanced in overtime. They followed up their overtime win with a 3-0 shutout victory over Coyote. In the championship, they faced off against Southeast Elite Hockey and clinched the title with a 3-1 victory.

Girls 14U Jetspeed Division

Champion: Hockey Factory Girls 2011

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Kynlee Hintzman, #10

The 2011 Manitoba All-Stars concluded their perfect 3-0-0 pool play round with a 3-1 victory over the Jr. Admirals. Manitoba followed up with a 6-0 shutout victory in the semi-final over Team California. Despite their 3-1 loss, the Jr. Admirals advanced to the semi-final match, where they suffered their second consecutive loss, 3-1, against the Hockey Factory Girls 2011. These two championship competitors aimed not only to claim the title but also to complete a perfect 5-0-0 weekend. The Hockey Factory Girls took the lead and maintained it, winning the championship match 4-1.

Girls 16U Divisions

Girls 16U Supertacks Division

Champion: Green Bay Hornets

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Emily Smedema, #30

Both the Green Bay Hornets and Southeast Elite Hockey cemented their championship spots with shutout victories in the semi-finals. Southeast Elite Hockey entered the championship with a perfect 4-0-0 record, while the Hornets’ path was very different. They were 2-1-1 on the weekend, with their opening game being a 3-1 loss to Southeast Elite Hockey. However, the Hornets got their revenge in the championship with a 4-2 victory, earning them their championship banner.

Girls 16U Jetspeed Division

Champion: Central Drillers

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Maja Pircio, #21

Opening the weekend with a 2-0 loss to NSW was not the ideal start Bearcat Elite was hoping for. However, they followed this up with a shutout of their own and a tight 3-2 win over the Jr. Leafs, earning the 3rd seed. The Bearcats then had a rematch with the now 2-0-1 NSW, winning 2-1 and advancing to face the Central Drillers in the final. The Drillers, with a record of 3-0-1, had two shutout victories and a tie against NSW. They brought their A-game on Sunday for the championship, defeating Bearcat Elite 5-2 and claiming their championship banner.

Girls 19U Divisions

Champion: Lady Bearcat Elite Green

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Rhianna Meyer, #12

The Lady Bearcat Elite Green’s perfect 3-0-0 pool play record is even more impressive when you realize two of their three wins were shutouts, and they only surrendered one goal over the three games. In the semi-final, the Tropics Gold were able to score one goal, but that would not be enough. The Lady Bearcat Elite Green faced SHA Edge, also undefeated, in the final. Once again, the Lady Bearcat Elite Green shut down the opposition, earning their championship banner with a 6-0 victory.

2016 Divisions

2016 Supertacks Division

Champion: SDP 2016 Elite

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Jake Rosenthal, #4

There was no question of who was advancing at the conclusion of pool play on Saturday, with four teams still holding a perfect 4-0-0 record. The tiebreakers determined the seeding: SDP 2016 Elite (1st Seed), Cattleman (2nd Seed), Southeast Elite Hockey Elite (3rd Seed), and HC of STL 16 (4th Seed). SDP 2016 Elite started Sunday’s elimination games with a 6-2 victory over HC of STL 16, followed by Cattleman defeating Southeast Elite Hockey Elite 8-3. The championship turned out to be the tightest match of the entire weekend in this division, with the game coming down to a single goal. With a final score of 5-4, SDP 2016 Elite claimed their championship title and banner.

2016 Jetspeed Division

Champion: California Kings

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Myles Abiteboul, #0

Opening the weekend 2-0, the Lightning Alumni were off to a great start. On Saturday morning, they faced the Bolts and fell 4-2. Fortunately, they were still able to advance to the quarterfinals as the 7th seed, but unfortunately, they would have to rematch the undefeated Bolts. The Lightning Alumni stepped up their game to avenge their only loss with a 5-3 victory. However, their excitement from the quarterfinals came to a quick conclusion in the semi-final as HC of STL – 2016 AAA (3rd seed) handily defeated them. HC of STL had a tall task in the finals facing the top seed, the California Kings. The Kings were not only undefeated but were also scoring 6.4 goals per game and surrendering less than a goal per game. HC of STL managed to score two goals against the Kings, but the Kings’ offense outdueled them, scoring four goals on their way to a championship title.

2015 Divisions

2015 Supertacks Division

Champion: Jr Reapers

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Charlie Solomon, #21

Just barely qualifying for the playoffs, the AAA Blues – Yellow were 1-2-0, falling short against the undefeated Lightning Alumni 2015. However, the Blues shifted into another gear as they upset the Lightning 9-4. The goals kept coming in the semi-finals as they narrowly defeated 1494’s Black 7-6, earning their spot in the championship match. Their opposition in the championship would be the winner of the Jr. Reapers and Chicago Fire. The Jr. Reapers scored no less than 8 goals in every game, leading to their undefeated record entering the semi-final match. The Fire managed to hold them to their lowest goal total of the weekend, but that was not enough as the Jr. Reapers won 3-2 to advance. Despite the Jr. Reapers being the favorite based on their records, the Blues did not make things easy for them. The Jr. Reapers were able to hold off the Blues by a goal, winning the championship 5-4.

2015 Jetspeed Division

Champion: Jr Trevians

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Henry Mcelvenny, #30

Wrapping up their final game of the pool play round with a narrow 4-3 victory over Optimum Hockey Academy, the Jr. Trevians were able to clinch the third seed with their undefeated record. They went on to tear through the playoffs, eliminating Battery Sbarro (6th Seed), Coast 2 Coast Player Development (2nd Seed), and Hatty Ratty (1st Seed) in the championship. In every playoff game, the Jr. Trevians won by the score of 7-1, exerting their dominance on the competition en route to claiming their championship banner.

2015 Ribcor Division

Champion: Venom

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Easton Hillstrom, #21

The 1494’s Yellow and the Venom were the only two teams with perfect 4-0-0 records entering Sunday’s semi-final games. The Venom faced off in the earlier match against the Jr. Warriors, where they dominated, winning 7-2 to lock in their spot in the finals. However, the 1494’s Yellow saw their perfect record come to an end as the SD Selects sent them home by a final score of 7-4. The SD Selects had only one loss on the weekend, a tightly contested 7-6 defeat to the Venom in pool play. With the title within their grasp, the Venom did not let the championship be as close as their previous match with the SD Selects, defeating them 8-4 to earn their championship hats.

2014 Divisions

2014 Supertacks Division

Champion: 2014 Machine Orange

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Kane Couet, #21

The final four remaining teams had faced adversity throughout the weekend, with none having perfect records. In the first semi-final match, the Chicago Fire faced 2014 Machine Orange. Each team was 3-0-1, with the tie occurring against each other in pool play. There would be no draw in the semi-finals as 2014 Machine Orange defeated the Fire 5-4 to advance. The other semi-final match went into overtime between SHA Edge and 2015 Machine Orange. 2014 Machine Orange was able to defeat the Edge in overtime 2-1, advancing to an all Machine Orange final. With the 2014 and 2015 Machine Orange teams facing off, there was definitely a sense of familiarity and inter-association rivalry between the two. The 2014’s were able to defeat the 2015’s by a final score of 4-2, claiming the banner.

2014 Jetspeed Division

Champion: Battery Sbarro Elite

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Zane Holsinger, #60

Battery Sbarro Elite opened the semi-final round with an 8-3 victory over Top Gun, locking in their spot in the championship. The later semi-finals of the day featured two undefeated squads, the Lake County Vipers and Southeast Elite Hockey. Just like the earlier semi-final, the victor scored eight goals. Southeast Elite Hockey was set to face Battery Sbarro Elite in the championship. In a high-scoring affair, Battery Sbarro Elite prevailed 7-5 to take the title.

2014 Ribcor Division

Champion: Jr Trevians

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Kellen Payne, #28

Coming off a 6-0 shutout victory in the semi-finals, the Jr. Trevians were set to face the Madison Capitols in the championship. Each team had suffered a one-goal loss in pool play but had since been perfect. The final was close throughout and came down to the wire. The Jr. Trevians were able to hold on to a one-goal lead in the end, defeating the Capitols 4-3 to win the championship.

2013 Divisions

2013 Supertacks Division

Champion: 29ers

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Mike Muffareh, #92

Three of the four teams remaining on Sunday were undefeated: the Jr. Reapers, 29ers, and the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals. The Reapers dominated Pro Hybrid 2013 Elite in the first semi-final match, and the second match was much tighter, with the 29ers winning over the Jr. Admirals 4-2. The stage was set for the final between these two Illinois-based teams. The 29ers were able to hold off the Jr. Reapers by a goal to win the championship 4-3.

2013 Jetspeed Division

Champion: Southeast Elite Hockey

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Misha Korobkin, #1

The Mad Caps made a statement in their fifth win of the weekend with a 10-4 semi-final victory over SHA Edge to advance to the championship. The Caps would face the winner of the Jr. Falcons and Southeast Elite Hockey. These two undefeated teams battled in one of the tightest games of the division. Southeast Elite Hockey was able to hang on to a 2-1 lead to advance to the championship. After scoring ten goals, the Mad Caps were held goalless in the final, with Southeast Elite Hockey earning their third shutout of the weekend, their sixth win, and the championship title.

2013 Ribcor Division

Champion: Wilmette

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Russ Bergstein, #38

After opening the weekend with a big win, Wilmette faced adversity. They suffered a loss to Southeast Elite Hockey and a tie with Hull Hockey Hitmen, narrowly qualifying for the elimination round. With a 5-4 victory in the quarter-finals and a convincing 7-1 win in the semi-finals, Wilmette had righted the ship on their way to the championship. In the championship game against the SD Selects, regulation concluded in a 2-2 draw. With extra hockey required, Wilmette came out on top.

2012 Divisions

2012 Supertacks Division

Champion: East Coast Kings

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Luke Bell, #17

Losing the last game of pool play with a 5-3 defeat to the 29ers, the East Coast Kings were able to secure the fifth seed with their 2-1-0 record. They opened their playoffs with a rematch against the 29ers and were able to return the favor, defeating the 29ers this time 5-3. The next morning, the Kings shut out the previously undefeated Coyote, 2-0, to advance to the championship. Their next opponent, L 2012 AAA, was undefeated on the weekend and entered the championship after scoring 15 goals over their last two games. The Kings were able to hold the LC offense at bay and won 2-1, claiming their championship banner.

2012 Jetspeed Division

Champion: SDP 2012 Premier

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Dylan Mages, #12

Sunday morning, two teams remained undefeated with semi-final victories. The Spring Bulls defeated Team Midwest AAA 3-2, and SDP 2012 Premier beat Southeast Elite Hockey 5-2. With the banner on the line, SDP 2012 Premier brought their offense, scoring six goals en route to a 6-3 championship victory. The win sealed their undisputed championship.

2012 Ribcor Division

Champion: Saginaw Selects

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Ben Kramer, #35

Opening the weekend with a 2-2 draw versus Top Gun was not an ideal start for the Saginaw Selects. Nonetheless, they went on to win their final two pool play games to secure the fourth seed, setting them up for a rematch with Top Gun in the quarter-finals. Like their first match, regulation ended in a tie. Saginaw was able to prevail in extra hockey with a 5-4 victory. They followed up this game with a 6-2 semi-final win over the Junkyard Dogs, setting up a championship matchup with the SD Selects 2012. Saginaw continued their winning ways, earning the championship with a 3-1 final score.

2011 Divisions

2011 Supertacks Division

Champion: Coyote

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Gavin Carnow, #50

All four teams remaining in the semi-final round were undefeated in regulation, with three of the four having perfect 4-0-0 records. Coyote opened the first semi-final match with a narrow 3-2 defeat of the 2011 CCM Selects Sutton. The 2011 CCM Selects Stellabotte were victorious in the other semi-final match over ProHybrid 2011 Elite. The game was close, but the 2011 CCM Selects Stellabotte fell 5-3 to Coyote. Not only did they earn their banner and hats, but Coyote also completed their undisputed 6-0-0 weekend.

2011 Jetspeed Division

Champion: Team Midwest 2011

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Sam VanderlPol, #8

Team Midwest AAA opened the semi-final round with a shutout victory over the Mad Caps, and the round concluded with Cincinnati Hockey Academy eliminating Coast 2 Coast PD 2011. Team Midwest was looking to complete their perfect weekend with a championship victory, but Cincinnati Hockey Academy would be a formidable opponent, as they were a team scoring over five goals a game and surrendering less than two per game on average. Team Midwest was not intimidated by Cincinnati Hockey Academy, defeating them 5-2 to clinch their undisputed championship.

2011 Ribcor Division

Champion: Love Performance

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Brad Bartos, #29

Wrapping up a 3-0-0 pool play round with a 5-2 victory over SDP Premier, Love Performance secured the top seed in their division, setting up a quarter-final match with the SoCal Chargers. They followed up with a 3-0 shutout win and a 5-1 semi-final win over the LA Selects – Gardner to land a rematch with SDP Premier in the final. SDP Premier’s only loss was against Love Performance, and they were looking for vengeance. In the end, SDP Premier did not get their revenge as Love Performance went on to win 6-2, earning their undisputed title.

2010 Divisions

2010 Supertacks Division

Champion: 2010 CCM Selects East

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Parker Colmer, #14

The CCM Selects East were set to face the Wisco Black Bears, a team that was riding high after a 5-4 quarter-final overtime victory over the Jr. Reapers, in the semi-final round. The CCM Selects earned their fifth victory of the weekend, eliminating the Black Bears to advance to the final. Their opposition in the final match, ProHybrid Elite, was also undefeated. ProHybrid kept it tight, but the CCM Selects East prevailed 5-4 to earn their championship banner and hats.

2010 Jetspeed Division

Champion: Bolts

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Colbin Anderson, #80

All four teams that earned a berth in the semi-final round were undefeated. Performance Hockey kicked off the semi-final round with a 4-1 win over the Hockey Factory Madison 2010. Champion: Firehawks

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Vashon Price, #60

With both finalists coming off a one-goal semi-final victory—the Firehawks 5-4 over the Wasatch Fire and Southside Hockey Academy 2-1 over the Jr. Falcons—we knew we were going to have two energized teams in the final. The final was just as tightly contested as their semi-final matches. Coming down to the wire, the Firehawks were able to hang on to a 4-3 lead to earn the title.

With a chance for not only the title but also vengeance, the Caps came out much stronger than in their previous match. The game was tied at the end of regulation and required overtime. The puck finally breached the goalie, and players poured out of the California Hockey Club bench in celebration of their 4-3 victory in the final.

15U Jetspeed Division

Champion: Jr Falcons

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Preston Thomas, #14

The TPH SE Prospects earned the top seed with a perfect record through pool play and took care of business in the quarter-final with a 4-1 win over the Green Bay Hornets. TPH was not the only undefeated team entering the semi-final round; both the Jr. Falcons and the Jr. Leafs were also undefeated and would face each other. The Jr. Falcons and TPH SE Prospects both retained their perfect record with semi-final victories and faced off in the final. The final was neck and neck, but the Jr. Falcons held on to a 3-2 lead to earn their undisputed championship title.

16U Divisions

16U Supertacks Division

Champion: Mad Caps

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Mason Majewski, #2

Though Hockey Haven and Jiberish 08 were the only two undefeated teams remaining Sunday morning, they still needed one more win to advance to the championship. In the first semi-final match, the Mad Caps upset Jiberish 08 by the final score of 7-3. Hoping to avoid the same fate, Hockey Haven hit the ice against Affton only to fall in overtime 5-4. With both teams riding high from their morning upsets, the championship was a nail-biter. In the end, the Mad Caps were able to edge out Affton 3-2 to earn the title.

16U Jetspeed Division

Champion: Jr Leafs

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Justin Papin, #72

Coming off a 3-2 overtime win in the quarter-final round, Top Gun was set to challenge the undefeated Jr. Leafs in the semi-final. The Jr. Leafs retained their perfect record with a 5-2 victory. The Jr. Leafs had outscored their opposition 32-8 over the weekend and were eager to complete their undisputed championship run. Their opponents, SHA Edge, pushed them hard, scoring four goals in the final. However, the Jr. Leafs were able to not only match their effort but also net five goals to earn their 5-4 championship victory.

18U Divisions

18U Supertacks Division

Champion: Midwest Knights

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Owen Everhart, #96

Even with a draw against Steen Sports Selects, the Midwest Knights were able to secure the 1st seed in the playoffs with their 2-0-1 record through pool play. They made quick work of the Hockey Locker Honey Badgers with a 5-0 shutout victory. The other semi-final would be between the 29ers and Steen Sports Selects. These two teams met in pool play, with the result falling in favor of Steen Sports Selects 4-2. This time, the game ended 1-1 with overtime being necessary. Steen Sports Selects were able to advance and get their rematch with the Midwest Knights in the final. In their final rematch, the Midwest Knights came out guns blazing. The Knights went on to earn their championship title with a 5-2 victory.

18U Jetspeed Division

Champion: CCHC Prospects

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Gavin Dewiebler, #27

Both semi-final matches came down to a goal, with the Puck Pigs narrowly defeating Top Gun 4-3 and the CHHC Prospects eliminating SHA Edge 2-1.
