Weekend Recap: 2023 CCM Chi-Town Shuffle

416 Teams, 29 Champions, One Hell of a Weekend

The CCM Chi-Town Shuffle marked the start of 200×85’s 2023 spring/summer season. From Seoul to San Diego, a record 416 teams traveled to compete in Chicago. Thursday marked the beginning of the event with our opening night which included CCM equipment testing, YouTubers Olly and Jacob from “On The Bench”, and sponsor activations from Bladetech Hockey, Buttendz, Goalie Parts, Helios, Howie’s Hockey Tape, LiveBarn, Sparx, SportLogiq, and more.

 

Following the opening ceremonies, the teams took to the ice. Throughout the weekend teams battled it out resulting in 29 champions. For a division-by-division breakdown, continue below.

2023 CCM Chi-Town Shuffle Results

Boys 2015 Jetspeed Division

After falling in their first game of the event, Wilmette went undefeated to secure their spot in the championship match. Their opposition, Southeast Elite Hockey, had a spotless record after narrowly edging out of the semi-finals. The offense came to play in the championship match where 10 goals were scored and Wilmette secured their victory by the final score of 7-3. Wilmette’s Brooks Achter was selected as the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 2015 Jetspeed Division.

 

Boys 2015 Supertacks Division

Averaging 7.5 goals per game coming out of pool play, the Minnesota Blades Silver was a freight train that looked like it could not be stopped. After defeating the Jr. Reapers in the semi-finals they would be set to face the winner of the Chicago 29ers and HC of STL Elite. The 29ers defeated the HC of STL Elite in pool play but could not repeat the result. HC of STL Elite was set to challenge the offensive juggernaut from the Land of 10,000 Lakes. By a final score of 5-3, the HC of STL Elite was able to defeat the Blades in the championship and claim their banner. The Howie’s Hockey MVP for the c was awarded to Jack Bockal of HC of STL Elite.

 

Boys 2014 Jetspeed Division

After a high-scoring and tight semi-final, the Minnesota Blades advanced to face the undefeated Oakland Junior Grizzlies in the championship. The Blades kept it tight throughout but the Grizzlies prevailed 3-2 in the end. Along with their championship banner, Grizzlies players Chaz Bajnai and Cole Baumgart shared the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 2014 Jetspeed Division.

 

Boys 2014 Supertacks Division

Sweeping through the round-robin and semi-final match, the Southeast Elite was set to face the Chicago Fire in the final. Jonathan Wammes, 2014 Supertacks Division Howie’s Hockey MVP, and the Southeast Elite were prepared for the challenge and extinguished the Fire 6-3 to earn their banner.

 

Boys 2013 Jetspeed Division

After shutting out the Southside Warriors in the semi-final, the Pryme Tyme Selects had a large challenge ahead in the undefeated Minnesota Blades Maroon. In a tight 5-4 final, the Blades proved to be a challenge a bit too large for the Selects. Ethan Lindberg of the Blades was awarded the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 2013 Jetspeed Division.

 

Boys 2013 Supertacks Division

Undefeated vs undefeated, the BC Bears and Optimum Hockey Academy were set to square off in the championship match. With the Bears only surrendering five goals until the championship match, the question was if Optimum could break through the strong defense. The Bears held strong and edged out the championship victory by a final score of 2-1. The Bear’s Cooper Rowson was awarded the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 2013 Supertacks Division.

 

Boys 2012 Jetspeed Division

Twenty-four teams squared off in the Boys 2012 Jetspeed Division and of the four teams advancing to the semi-finals, two were undefeated in regulation through the round robin, Coast 2 Coast PD, and Southeast Elite Hockey. However, both were upset, setting up a Carolina Stars versus Tri-Valley Blue Devils final. With matching records at 4-0-1, these two teams were looking for their fifth and banner-earning win. The Carolina Stars and Lukas Hughes, Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 2012 Jetspeed Division, prevailed by the final score of 5-1.

 

Boys 2012 Supertacks Division

Coming off of a 1-0 shutout victory in the semi-finals, HC of STL was set to face the East Coast Kings. Both undefeated teams hit the ice for the final and Nathan Zakowich, Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 2013 Supertacks Division, and the Kings didn’t flinch. The Kings shutout HC of STL 4-0 and earned their championship banner.

 

Boys 2011 Jetspeed Division

With one loss in the round-robin, the Lightning Alumni had an uphill battle ahead of them. They needed a win in their final round-robin game versus Atlantic Coast Elite AAA to secure their semi-final birth. Not only did they win, but they also shut them out 6-0 and carried that momentum into their semi-final match versus the undefeated Minnesota Blades Maroon where they won again. Another undefeated opponent stood in their way, the LA Metropolitans. With 33 goals, the Metropolitans were the highest-scoring team in the division and they were ready to battle. In a tight 4-3 game the Lightning Alumni achieved victory and secured their championship banner. Lightning Alumni’s Gabriel Lecavalier was selected as the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 2011 Jetspeed Division.

 

Boys 2011 Ribcor Division

Entering the semi-finals, both the Rocky Mountain Warriors and the Tri-Valley Blue Devils were undefeated. The Warriors proceeded to defeat Hockey Sense 7-3 and the Blue Devils knocked off Trainwreck 3-1, each advancing to the final. Averaging nearly seven goals per game, the Warriors were filling the nets. The Blue Devils were not able to hold off the offensive juggernaut. The Warriors earned their championship victory by a final score of 7-3. The Warriors’ Flynn Wald was selected as the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 2011 Ribcor Division.

 

Boys 2011 Supertacks Division

A tight 2-1 victory in the semi-finals punched the ticket to the championship match for Coyote. The Minnesota Blades wrapped up their shutout victory soon after to earn their matchup with Coyote. The Blades and Mason Dalbec, Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 2011 Supertacks Division, came out buzzing and never took their foot off the pedal. By a final score of 8-1, the Blades made a statement claiming their title as champions.

 

Boys 2010 Jetspeed Division

After 50 games of round-robin play, consolation, and playoff games, the final two teams had spotless records. Hockey Haven and Southeast Hockey Elite were set to battle in the championship. The game could have gone either way, it was incredibly tight but Hockey Haven held on at the end for a 4-3 championship win. Hockey Haven’s Brayden Warych was selected as the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 2010 Jetspeed Division.

 

Boys 2010 Supertacks Division

Honeybaked’s path to the final was not easy, with one-goal victories over Coyote and CCM Selects Black in the playoffs. It was not getting any easier, their championship opposition, Jr. Reapers, had only allowed 6 goals against through their 5 games. Honeybaked was able to score twice, but that wasn’t enough. The Jr. Reapers won 3-2 in the championship match and Patrick Taylor was awarded the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 2010 Supertacks Division.

 

Boys 2009 Jetspeed Division

With matching 5-0 records, the LA Metropolitans and the STL Knights were heading to the finals. The Knights may have had the third-highest-scoring offense in the division, but the Metropolitans had the first, and they showed it. The Metropolitans defeated the Knights by a final score of 6-1. Grayson Espenshade, Metropolitans, was selected as the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 2010 Jetspeed Division.

 

Boys 2009 Ribcor Division

After a 2-0 loss to the Jr. Falcons, the Dusters were still able to get into the playoffs. With a tight 2-1 victory in the quarter-finals and a 4-2 semi-final win, the Dusters were set for a rematch with the Jr. Falcons in the championship. Unable to avenge their previous loss, the Jr. Falcons completed their undisputed championship with a 4-1 victory. The Jr. Falcon’s Aiden Beard was awarded the 2009 Ribcor Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

 

Boys 2009 Supertacks Division

The East Coast Kings 6-0 shutout victory in the semi-finals lined them up to square off with the USA Kings in the championship. Leading the division in scoring, the East Coast Kings continued lighting the lamp in the championship. Two Kings entered the championship but the East Coast Kings prevailed by a final score of 7-1. Paul Gualberto Jr., East Coast Kings, was selected as the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 2009 Supertacks Division.

 

Boys 15U Jetspeed Division

With a combined 12 goals in the quarter and semi-finals, the 4-0-1 Coast 2 Coast PD was set to face off with undefeated Wilmette in the final. Coast 2 Coast PD kept their momentum rolling and defeated Wilmette 6-3 to claim their championship title. Coast 2 Coast PD’s Luke Tipner earned the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 15U Jetspeed Division.

 

Boys 15U Supertacks Division

The opening game of the Boys 15U Supertacks division was Southeast Elite Hockey versus Jiberish. Southeast Elite won 4-3 but that wouldn’t be the last they saw of Jiberish. The teams met again in the championship, Southeast Elite looking for a repeat result and Jiberish looking to return the favor. The final score was 4-3 again, but this time it was in Jiberish’s favor. Jiberish took the title and Mason Reed was awarded the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 15U Supertacks Division.

 

Boys 16U Jetspeed Division

The LA Metropolitans made quick work of the semi-finals with a 7-3 victory and were hoping to keep the goals piling up in the championship versus Hockey Sense. Both undefeated, it was expected to be a tight match and it certainly was. In the end, it came down to one goal, Hockey Sense won the championship by the final score of 3-2. Hockey Sense’s Mitchell Gawel was awarded the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the 15U Jetspeed Division.

 

Boys 16U Supertacks Division

A tight 3-2 win got Southeast Elite Hockey through the quarterfinals and they followed it up with a shutout victory in the semifinals. Their opponent, CCM Selects Sutton, had torched their way through the playoffs scoring 14 goals over two games. The Selects continued to fire on all cylinders defeating Southeast Elite 6-1 in the championship. In addition to the banner, Emmet McClaine was awarded the 16U Supertacks Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

 

Boys 18U Jetspeed Division

The CHHC Prospects and Jr. Leafs both squeezed through the quarterfinals with 3-2 victories and proceeded to win their semi-final matches. CHHC Prospects were the top-ranked offensively and the Jr. Leafs were the top-ranked defensively going into the final. The two clashed in the final and the CHHC Prospects were victorious. The 3-2 final score was capped off with Cooper Darovic, CHHC Prospects, being awarded the 18U Jetspeed Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

 

Boys 18U Supertacks Division

In their first game of the weekend, the Junkyard Dogs and Tahoe Prep Academy tied 5-5. Fast-forward four games later and they are set for their rematch. This time the championship banner is on the line. There would be no draw this time as Tahoe Prep Academy earned the championship with a 5-2 victory. In addition to the championship banner, Charlie Vucovik was awarded the 18U Supertacks Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

 

Girls 12U Jetspeed Division

Looking to remain undefeated, Fox Motors Red was set to face off with the CCM Selects 2012. Having not yet surrendered a goal, Fox Motors Red defeated the CCM Selects 6-0 for not only the championship title but their fifth consecutive shutout. The Girls 12U Jetspeed Division Howie’s Hockey MVP was awarded to Harper Nichols.

 

Girls 12U Supertacks Division

With a 4-1 semi-final victory, the Chi-Town 29ers were headed to the championship. After being shutout 5-0 by the Chi-Town 29ers, TeamOne was set to rematch them in the final. The script was flipped, and TeamOne defeated the 29ers this time by a 2-1 final score. The Girls 12U Supertacks Division Howie’s Hockey MVP was awarded to Lauren Letts.

 

Girls 14U Jetspeed Division

The CCM Selects 2010 and Southeast Elite would meet twice throughout the weekend. The first meeting resulted in a 7-1 Selects victory in the round-robin. The rematch had much more on the line, as the two were set to battle in the Championship. The score was different, but the result was the same. The CCM Selects won 3-1 and Mateya Conklin was awarded the Girls 14U Supertacks Division Howie’s Hockey MVP.

 

Girls 14U Supertacks Division

After a 0-0 tie in the round-robin, TeamOne and Coyote had a semi-final rematch. There would be no draw this time as TeamOne prevailed and were set to play the Central Drillers who narrowly defeated the Mad Caps in the semi-finals. These two previously met in the round robin where TeamOne defeated the Drillers 3-1. TeamOne defeated the Drillers for the second time 2-1, winning the title and earning their championship banner. TeamOne’s Sydney Stoughton was awarded the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the Girls 14U Jetspeed Division.

 

Girls 16U Jetspeed Division

The question wasn’t just if anyone could defeat the CCM Select 08, but also if anyone could score on them. After four consecutive shutout victories, the Selects were set to face the Milwaukee Tuskers in the championship. The Tuskers were the first team all weekend that scored a goal versus the Selects, but they fell by a final score of 6-1. In addition to the championship banner, Annika Stock was awarded the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the Girls 16U Jetspeed Division.

 

Girls 16U Supertacks Division

The CCM Selects and GSE Girls tied in the round-robin and would face off against each other in the semi-final. This time the Selects edged out GSE 5-4. Their opponent would be the winner of the Chi-Town 29ers and the Mad Caps. After defeating the 29ers in the round-robin, the Caps fell 4-3. The championship match was even tighter than the semi-finals ending with a 29ers 2-1 victory over the Selects. Maria Duffer, 29ers, was awarded the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the Girls 16U Supertacks Division.

 

Girls 19U Division

After back-to-back shutout victories over the Missfits, Mish Mash was set to face St. Mary’s Girls in the championship. St. Mary’s only loss to this point was in the round-robin versus Mish Mash. Mish Mash repeated the result in the final defeating St. Mary’s 7-1. In addition to the championship banner, Rosie Klein earned the Howie’s Hockey MVP for the Girls 19U Jetspeed Division.
