Weekend Recap: 2024 Blue Chip Invite
Recapping the Journeys to Glory in New England
Nearly 140 youth hockey teams gathered in New England this past weekend for the 2024 CCM Blue Chip Invite. Over 300 games were played across 13 facilities, culminating in 16 champions. We want to thank all the players, families, and coaches for making this a memorable weekend. Check out the division breakdowns to see who came out on top at the CCM Blue Chip Invite.

2017 Division
Champion: Jr Bruins National Elite
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Sean Lucas, #11
The Jr Bruins National Elite made a statement in pool play, scoring 31 goals in their four victories. Their final opponent, Hockey Essentials, had a 3-1-0 record, having lost to the Jr Bruins 7-4 on Saturday morning. With the slate wiped clean for the final, it was anyone’s game. Although Hockey Essentials scored one more goal than in their previous match, the Jr Bruins still netted seven goals to claim the championship title with a final score of 7-5.
2016 Division
Champion: 401 Bulldogs
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Nathan Duphiney, #34
The Yetis wrapped up Saturday with a 5-3 victory over the Sharks, securing the 1st seed with their 4-0 pool play record. The three teams that also advanced to the semi-finals all had matching 3-1-0 records. The Yetis opened the semi-final round with their second consecutive win over the Sharks, 5-3, while the 401 Bulldogs knocked out the CCM Selects with a final score of 5-3. The Bulldogs’ only loss of the weekend was a 4-2 defeat by the Yetis. The Yetis hit the ice just after noon, ready to complete their perfect 6-0-0 weekend, and the Bulldogs were eager for revenge. In a tightly contested game, the Bulldogs got their vengeance with a 3-2 victory to claim the title.
2015 Division
Champion: 401 Bulldogs
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Mikey Faherty, #15
Three of the four semi-final teams remained undefeated by Sunday morning. The unbeaten 401 Bulldogs swiftly defeated the Blizzard Hockey Club with a 5-0 shutout. In the second semi-final, the other two undefeated teams faced off, with Hockey Essentials earning their spot in the final by defeating the CCM Selects 6-1. However, like the Blizzard Hockey Club, Hockey Essentials couldn’t break through the Bulldogs’ defense. The Bulldogs dominated, securing their third consecutive shutout victory to claim the championship title.
2014 Division
Champion: Yetis
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Ryan Gosselin, #1
The Boston Hockey Club shocked the division on Saturday night with a 2-1 overtime victory, sending the 2nd-seeded Long Island Gladiators packing. The underdog story ended Sunday morning with a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the 401 Bulldogs, setting up a 401 Bulldogs versus Yetis final. Both teams were undefeated in regulation over the weekend, but the Bulldogs’ streak ended as the Yetis prevailed with a 6-3 victory to take the title.

2013 Supertacks Division
Champion: East Coast Kings
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Casey Catsam, #13
The 5th-seeded LI Gladiators and the 8th-seeded MK Selects Black shook up the playoffs by both eliminating top-seeded teams in the quarter-finals with shutout victories. The MK Selects continued their underdog story with an 8-3 semi-final win to advance to the final. The East Coast Kings were the only team standing between them and the title. The Kings ended the MK Selects’ run with a 6-2 victory, cementing their undisputed, undefeated championship weekend.
2013 Jetspeed Division
Champion: RI Jr. Clams
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Donovan Kozilsky, #41
The RI Jr. Clams opened the weekend with a 3-1 loss to the East Coast Kings. Despite this setback, they rallied, winning three consecutive games to find themselves in the championship against none other than the Kings. In an incredibly tightly contested match, the Clams flipped the script, defeating the Kings 4-3 to earn their championship banner, hats, and medals.

2012 Supertacks Division
Champion: Atlantic Coast Elite
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Jake Ferguson, #33
The BTP Eagles’ 1-0-2 record was enough to qualify them for the quarter-finals as the 6th seed, setting up a rematch with the Elite Stars Hockey Club, whom they had tied earlier in the day. The Eagles edged out the Elite Stars 3-2 and followed this with a 5-2 victory over the East Coast Kings to secure their spot in the final. Now 3-0-2, they were set to battle the 1st-seeded, 5-0-0 Atlantic Coast Elite. The title came down to a single goal, with the Atlantic Coast Elite emerging victorious 5-4, completing their undisputed championship run.
2012 Jetspeed Division
Champion: Mavericks
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Maddox Cunha, #18
At the conclusion of pool play, every team had suffered at least one loss. The Lightning Alumni and the CCM Selects Gialedakis BLUE, both at 3-1-0, took the top two seeds but were eliminated in the semi-final round. The championship matchup featured the Empire Snipers and the Mavericks. The game kept everyone in the building on the edge of their seats. When the final buzzer rang, the teams were locked in a 2-2 stalemate. The teams played on, and the Mavericks broke the tie to win the championship 3-2 in overtime.

2011 Supertacks Division
Champion: CCM Selects Hodgeman
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Patrick Taylor, #22
The top two seeds made strong statements in the semi-finals on Sunday morning. 3C Elite Hockey defeated the MK Selects 9-3, and CCM Selects Hodgman eliminated the NH Knights 7-3. Unlike their semi-final matches, neither team dominated the final. The championship was closely contested, requiring overtime. In the extra period, CCM Selects Hodgman prevailed to earn their championship banner and hats.
2011 Jetspeed Division
Champion: Toronto Golden Knights
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Bryce Colebrook, #7
In the semi-final round of the 2011 Jetspeed Division, an Ontario showdown kicked off. The Toronto Golden Knights eliminated the Ottawa Storm with a final score of 8-2. They then faced the Empire Snipers, who advanced to the final after a 6-3 victory over the LI Berserkers. The Golden Knights had previously defeated the Snipers 4-1 in pool play, and in the final, they repeated this success with another 4-1 win. Their 5-2 victory secured them the championship banner.

Champion: Firebirds
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Sam Nowlan, #24
Before the semi-final round on Sunday, there were three undefeated teams. After the semi-finals, only two remained: the Firebirds and the East Coast Kings. The Kings faced a tough challenge as the Firebirds were a strong offensive team, scoring at least seven goals in every game leading up to the final. Although the Kings managed to limit them to under seven goals, the Firebirds proved too strong. With a final score of 6-1, the Firebirds secured an undisputed title and claimed their championship banner.
2010 Jetspeed Division
Champion: Atlantic Coast Elite Black
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Shane Walker, #93
The Boston Yeti had an impressive pool play round, securing a perfect 4-0-0 record that included two shutout victories. They faced a tough challenge from the NJ/MA Selects in the semi-final round but managed to hold on to a 2-1 lead, advancing to the final. In the championship match, the top-seeded Yeti faced off against the Atlantic Coast Elite Black for the second time that weekend. Although the Yeti had won their previous encounter 4-1, this time Atlantic Coast Elite Black gained the upper hand, winning the title game with a final score of 5-3 and claiming the championship title.

15U Supertacks Division
Champion: East Coast Kings
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Julian Herrera, #35
Both undefeated heading into the final, the East Coast Kings and the North American Warriors Elite had contrasting semi-final performances. The Kings displayed a strong offensive performance, defeating Hockey Development 360 8-3, while the Warriors shut down the South Shores Stars 2-0. However, the Warriors couldn’t contain the Kings’ offense in the final, as the Kings secured a 5-2 victory and claimed their championship banner.
15U Jetspeed Division
Champion: Long Island Gladiators
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Ryan Kaczynski, #66
The Quebec-based Sherbrooke Eagles concluded their perfect 4-0-0 pool play record with back-to-back shutouts against the Long Island Gladiators and New Hampshire Selects. However, in a Sunday morning rematch against the Gladiators, the Eagles couldn’t replicate their shutout performance. The Gladiators’ offense soared, scoring seven goals and securing a 7-3 victory to claim their championship title.
16U Division
Champion: Boston Jr Blues
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Cole Sabourin, #11
The New England Blades, with their perfect 4-0-0 record and scoring an impressive average of 6.5 goals per game, faced a challenging semi-final match against Atlantic Coast HC that went into overtime. Despite the pressure, the Blades managed to avoid an upset and secured their spot in the final. Their opponents in the final had just come off a dominant 6-0 shutout victory over Performance Hockey Group. The championship game was tightly contested, with the Jr Blues ultimately seizing victory by a single goal. With a final score of 5-4, the Jr. Blues claimed the championship title.
18U Division
Champion: Atlantic Coast Black Elite
Howie’s Hockey MVP: Parker Carrabba, #10
Both 18U division semi-final matches came down to the wire. NRJ Hockey narrowly edged out Hockey Development 360 with a 3-2 victory, while Atlantic Coast Black Elite held on for a 4-3 win over the East Coast Blitz. The championship match was even tighter, requiring overtime to break the stalemate. Atlantic Coast sealed the win with an overtime goal, taking the title 3-2 and earning their championship hats, medals, and banner.
What an exhilarating weekend we had at the CCM Blue Chip Invite!
