Champion: Valley Jr Warriors

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Liam Carlin, #86

After suffering a 3-0 shutout loss to the Markham Waxers, the Valley Jr Warriors needed at least a tie in their final pool play to enhance their chances of advancing to the elimination rounds. The Jr Warriors rose to the occasion, scoring seven goals to defeat Biggby AAA and secure the 7th seed. Their quarter-final opponent, the 2nd seed Boston Americans (2-0-1), posed a formidable challenge. Nonetheless, the Jr Warriors prevailed with a one-goal victory to advance to a rematch against the only team to defeat them during the weekend, the Waxers. In a nail-biting, high-scoring semi-final, the Jr Warriors exacted revenge, defeating the Waxers 5-4. Only the Yale Jr Bulldogs stood between the Jr Warriors and glory. Three periods later, the championship hats adorned the Jr Warriors’ heads following their 6-2 victory.
