CCM Chicago Mite Madness Supertacks Division

Champion: Hockey Club of St Louis

Howie’s Hockey Jaden Becker, #77

The elimination round kicked off with the 2nd seed Wilmette Jr. Trevians facing the 3rd seed Jr. Team Illinois in a semifinal match. The Jr. Trevians had defeated Jr. Team Illinois earlier that morning to wrap up their pool, but there was much more on the line now. Regulation ended in a 4-4 draw, and the Jr. Trevians were able to stave off the upset from Jr. Team Illinois. In the other semifinal match, Hockey Club of St. Louis – Fox (HC of STL) shut out the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights to punch their ticket to the final. The top two seeded teams would meet for the second time of the weekend; the previous encounter went in favor of HC of STL, and the championship would as well. By the final score of 7-3, HC of STL defeated the Jr. Trevians to earn the title as the first-ever CCM Chicago Mite Madness Supertacks Champions.

CCM Chicago Mite Madness Jetspeed Division

Champion: Crystal Lake Stingers

Howie’s Hockey MVP: Timothy McNamara, #29

Starting the weekend with a hard-fought 2-1 loss to HC of STL was a tough beginning for the Crystal Lake Stingers. Following that up with one win in their next two pool play games was enough to earn their berth into the elimination round as the 6th seed. The Stingers were able to upset the third seed, Jr. Sabres, to advance to the semifinal round, where their offense exploded in a 7-4 defeat of the Peoria Horsepower. The Stingers would have to face none other than HC of STL in the final. Based on how their first match went, we knew it was going to be a close game, and it certainly was. The championship required overtime, and the Stingers ended up with the title, defeating HC of STL 5-4.
